Couldn’t look away.

Having finished anatomy in the spring, I felt an inability to look away, to keep myself from sifting through these photos of the body in death, in all its tragic beauty.
There’s something lonely and yet utterly triumphant about these photos, and I wonder if I only feel this way because I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the workings of the human body — of the sheer magic that it is, even when its movements have come to a end.
This makes me think of my Opa who donated his body to science. I only hope he had students like you that he was able to teach even after he passed on.
